PUBLIC HEALTH NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT
The following statement was issued by the CIEH on 16 June 2006: Graham Jukes, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, has today announced that Public Health News (PHN) magazine will cease publication after the issue of 3 July 2006. Launched in 2003, PHN swiftly met with considerable industry acclaim for its authoritative reporting on the ever-changing public health sector. Unfortunately however, recent developments within the NHS - in particular the restructure of the Primary Care Trust network - has led to a marked downturn in the job recruitment market and a consequent significant reduction in the magazine's advertising revenue. Graham Jukes said: "It is with regret that we have had to reach this decision. PHN has done an excellent job in communicating key public health issues but it became clear that the magazine could not be sustained in the face of falling revenues, and I would like to acknowledge and pay tribute to the editorial and production teams and their sterling work over the past two and a half years."
